Don't miss the live announcement by Dr. James Morris, the County Administrator of Inglewood Unified School District, on March 20, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The announcement will be streamed on YouTube and will unveil important information about upcoming changes in the district. Join in to hear about the promising developments that lay ahead, as we strive towards a brighter future for our students, families, and school district.

One of the topics to be discussed includes the closure of Morningside High School. As an alumni of Morningside, Sherrie Basch Stelik shares some overnight rumors about school closures. These rumors suggest that MHS, Highland Elementary, and Hudnall Elementary may be closing. However, there is also talk of giving MHS the 2024-2025 school year to increase enrollment before making a final decision. The communication from IUSD regarding these closures has been inconsistent, with some saying it was announced yesterday while others claim it will be announced next week.

Instead of solely fighting to keep MHS open, interested parties should also focus on ensuring that MHS remains relevant during and after the merge. Concerns about what will happen to championship banners, alumni artwork, the Perpetual Tree, and yearbooks have been raised, especially since there are rumors of a Sentinel overseeing the merge who may not prioritize these aspects. There seems to be a lack of communication from the Principal of MHS, despite the efforts of alumni to contribute Easter gift cards for the students in need.

Overall, it appears that effective communication from both IUSD and MHS is part of the problem, and all parties involved should work towards improving it.
