Targeted Shooting Near Kia Forum Leaves One Dead, Shakes Neighborhood

A targeted ambush near the Kia Forum on Thursday evening has left one man dead and a community searching for answers. The shooting, which occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. during the peak evening commute, has reignited local concerns regarding public safety in high-traffic entertainment districts.
The Incident at Prairie and Kelso
According to Mayor James Butts, the violence unfolded at the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Kelso Street. The victim was seated in his vehicle when a suspect pulled up, exited their car, and approached the victim’s driver-side window on foot.
The assailant fired at least two rounds into the vehicle in what investigators are calling a calculated attack.
The Aftermath: Despite his wounds, the victim managed to drive a short distance before crashing. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
A Narrow Escape: A female passenger was in the car during the shooting. She was not physically injured but was deeply shaken by the encounter.
The Ongoing Investigation
The Inglewood Police Department (IPD) spent the overnight hours canvassing the area for witnesses and forensic evidence.
