In an article for the Los Angeles Times, Mayor James T. Butts shared his opinion on the Inglewood people mover, stating that Inglewood needs the people mover.

Butts continued, stating, "Few places in the country understand a comeback quite like Inglewood. When I took office as mayor in 2011, the city, with its majority-minority population, was on the brink of municipal bankruptcy and just six months away from being unable to make payroll.

Today, Inglewood's fiscal health is stable. We've created thousands of prevailing wage jobs, opening pathways to homeownership and upward mobility. We brought the NFL back to Southern California; the Rams and the Chargers now play at Inglewood's SoFi Stadium. This same venue hosted Taylor Swift on her Eras tour and will be the site of the opening and closing ceremonies for the LA28 Olympic Games."
