City Of Inglewood is purchasing the 3-acre Worthington Elementary campus at 11101 S. Yukon Ave. for $12 million to convert the permanently closed school into parkland.
Worthington, which shut its doors in December 2023, borders Center Park and the acquisition would roughly double that park’s green space.
City documents say most campus buildings would be removed under the proposed designs, but the main structure at Yukon Avenue and 111th Street would be preserved and repurposed as a community event space.
The planned park extension also includes a soccer field, basketball courts, play areas and a dog park.
