Last night Inglewood Mayor James Butts announced the passing of longtime Parks and Recreation Commissioner Chairman Willie Agee after contracting the deadly COVID-19 virus while being treated for lung cancer at VA hospitals in Long Beach.

A 55 year resident of the 4th District, Agee moved to Inglewood from Alabama visiting yearly. His family affectionately called him "Cousin Red".

Mr. Agee served proud in the U.S. Army, combat in the Korean War.

In 2016 the city of Inglewood renamed the playhouse at Ed Vincent in his honor. Willie Agee worked tirelessly to make Inglewood a better place for residents to live.

He was a huge supporter of Eye On Inglewood Digital Media. While visiting my friend "Agee" in the Hospital in 2016. He encouraged me to move forward with my idea of starting an online platform for Inglewood residents. I will be forever grateful.
